Trail of the fire writer 31 very true . About Me

About Me:
My name is R.J. Haig. I retired from the Detroit Fire Department 15 years ago. I spent 30 years with the department. It was a wonderful way to make a living. I miss it and the memories of my adventures still linger. They make me smile, cry and swell with pride. I recently wrote a book called "Fire Horses."  Within the pages of this book are many of the challenges I faced as a Firefighter.

I now live with my wife Jo on a farm in northern Michigan. We have a son who is a Lieutenant with the Detroit Fire Department. We have another son who is a Sergeant on the Detroit Police Department. Our three girls were smart and got college educations. I have six grand kids who I can tell fire stories to. I am 72 years old and have suddenly gotten the urge to write. 

Those who are interested in action/adventure stories will enjoy "Fire Horses" which should be published before Xmas this year (2007). I have started another novel which chronicles the story of my police officer son tracking a con artist called the Stoma Lady. It is a fun book exposing the dark side of scammers and how they prey on innocent victims.
 
I love Labrador retrievers. We just buried the best Lab I ever owned. He was called Moose Super Dog. I will be telling his story too as I make posts to this site. It was great to be a Firefighter but I am now a writer and I know my new family of collegues are going to make my remaining years fun and productive. I am glad to join my new team.Let's show em what we got gang.
