On Literature as a Mirror: I tend to lean towards the above quote but also feel that the SELF needs to be recognized as a spiritual self, one that is as the passage says oriented "to the divine image". As was mentioned, it is all about balance, isn't it? That would be the Tao...watercourse way...flowing along in perfect balance...

New Duplex: Bloody hell! I thought I had a right to complain when my neighbors stick folding chairs and used potato crates in their parking spaces in order to "reserve" them. I would tell them to Fuck off before driving my car over the wretched things, but then people truly like to shoot each other in this city.

About Me

About Me:

AuthorNationCelebrates2008astheYearoftheAuthor!

ME, in 200 words + - 10%

I am an English, History, Italian and ESL teacher in High Schools here in beautiful sub-tropical Queensland, Australila.  I used to be a high school teacher in beautifully temperate Robeson and Columbus counties in NC.  And now I am back downunder after being up above for 3 years.  Whilst in USA in 2006 I took advantage of the opportunities and published  6 books I had already written here in Australia. Then during the summer of 2006 I wrote my latest one,
Like A Thief In The Night, which is listed at number 4 on the buy it links.  Now however, I am once again up above, and married to the wonderful gal of my dreams.

At the Age of 26 I traveled to Italy to visit my birth place, and the many relatives I’d never known.  The travel-bug had now bitten however, and once back in Australia,  the freedom of a Cab Driving job was used to travel again, this time, the world over, managing to live out one of my fantasies, which was living and working in Israel.  Back in Australia I attended Christian Heritage College in Brisbane, where I completed a BA in (English & History), and began teaching.  After studying Children’s Literature I turned my hand to writing, and wrote the Tsami & Tsado trilogy.  I then completed a BEd (Italian & English) and MA (Applied Linguistics) at the University of Queensland.    From 2004-7 I taught English LIt in NC public schools.  NOw I am open I could Teach ESL or History as well.

Title: Commissioned: Tsami & Tsado I
Price: $8.30
ISBN#: 9781425971557
Buy It Here: Authorhouse
Abstract:

COMMISSIONED, tells the story of Tsami, a brash youth in search of adventure, and Tsado is sedentary book-wise scholar, hardly a match, and an unlikely pairing for any kind of task.  The story is set amidst the pristine lands of Mariel a state whose capital is Maritown.  Tsami and Tsado are from a race of Maaris from the villages of Dagheir, and Miramari.  Tsado had never had to defend himself from Kelvusi card sharks, or anyone before, and Tsami had never tried to intervene on anyone’s behalf either.

Through coincidence, or is it Providence, they are thrown together and have to learn to get along with one another while living in a new city, among a melting pot of strangers.

Tsami’s dreams of swashbuckling adventure are realized one day when they are visited by ‘King’s Commissioner’, who selects them and assigns them to a task in service of the High King’s Army.  Tsado’s cautionary fears are overcome by Tsami’s bravado, and after accepting the commission they find that there were many more obstacles to overcome, and many more discoveries to be made in their own town.

Middle Earth with New and Old Earth Mixed in

I have just read all three of this series, Commissioned, The Caver Way, and The Best Laid Plan. Mr Silvestri has written a very enjoyable story. If you liked Lord of the Rings, then you will like this trilogy. I think it would appeal mostly to teens and young adults, but really, any age will enjoy reading about Tsami's and Tsado's idiosyncrasies. He has masterfully woven allegorical references into his story which, once you realise the plot at the end, will make you say, 'Hey yeh, I thought that was funny all along...' I strongly recommend this trilogy to anyone who enjoys a good story with a strong lesson to it.

Also recommended: Lord of the Rings Chronicles of Narnia Mr. Silvestri's Anthology series

Title: The Caver Way: Tsami & Tsado II
Price: $8.30
ISBN#: 9781425971564

Abstract:

THE CAVER WAY continues the adventure for Tsami and Tsado, and they face many dangers and meet up with many and varied civilizations and people along the way.  Their disagreements come to the boil and they part ways to continue their journey separately.  Tsami just knew there was an avalanche and Tsado was killed, what other explanation could there be?  An age-old riddle of the great schism is put to rest when Tsami meets up with some of the Yaari.  Who is the hairy man, what is his connection?  How does he know his name, and who does he keep talking to?  He keeps on with the aim of reaching perseverance.  Is perseverance a place?  Is perseverance a state of mind to attain?  They had heard rumors of strange and wonderful creatures but had never imagined meeting one, let alone helping the creature.  During the journey, they find out that they are not alone in their quest for the High King, and that The King had sent other folks out on similar tasks.  It must be an important task if many people are trying to do it.

Abstract:

THE BEST LAID PLAN is a plan that is well planned, and has been laid out since the beginning.  The High King and the Commissioner planned it all.  When the battle reached its height and the two friends were called upon to do their best, they could not fail, they had to succeed.  After all the traveling they knew that the most important thing was to deliver the satchels to the King.  Tsami knew they must contain vital battle plans that the High King must have at all costs.  After all he was always secretly with them, whenever they were stuck, he always seemed to send help, and he always knew where they were.  Something always ate at them though, and was in fact suggested by Tsado, why, if the High King was so powerful, couldn’t he deliver them himself?  Who is Old Count Nick?  He seems to be more than a match for their puny weapons, or is he?  The King’s Courtroom.  Why does it look so familiar, his courtiers, he knows them surely!

FOREWORD

Enzo asked me to read his manuscript, to validate some of the military references he uses within his story, and after reading and rereading his manuscript, I feel that he has written a novel worthy of note. His use of Biblical end time Scriptures and events, and his ability to portray those events in realistic, everyday scenarios is just amazing. The reader can almost feel himself transported within each scene, as the story switches from suburban Brisbane, Australia, to the UN building in downtown New York, to the Holy Land. He has been able to weave together the lifestyles from his own background in Australia, Israel, Europe, Asia, and America in such a way as to make for a compelling story. This book that he has written will cause its readers to turn page after page in an effort to find out what comes next.

I wish to thank Enzo for allowing me to be the first to read his work and to comment on what I believe will be a best seller.

SYNOPSIS

 All that had been prophesied was happening.  The world was in major upheaval, with Government systems, and social networks failing.  Neroux was quite the enigma, in his meteoric rise from when he had first appeared like a meek lamb.  The European Alliance became a major player in world affairs, and had eventually taken over the entire world, but, what about these upstarts from The East, with an army of 200 million?  And what of America?  Where is the good old US of A.  Who are the two weird preachers going around in rags?  And that trumpet?  Who blew that trumpet?

Most books dealing with Apocalyptic subjects focus on the USA or Europe with small mention of Israel, when Israel should be the center of all the end time happenings. Like a Thief in the Night opens in Australia, and USA and EU are mentioned, but it is mostly centered in Israel. It is basically a dramatization of Revelation. The characters are Erez, an IDF veteran from the 1st Lebanon war, Effie, an Australian School teacher, Rafi, an Italian-Australian school teacher, and his wife Marie, a legal secretary. The author has weaved their lives together intricately and skillfully. The Action moves to Israel early on in the story, where a Messianic fellowship named Mtzada, is brought into the story. The book tells the story of what happens throughout the world in the final days before the Lord's return, and even gives a glimpse into the Millennium. I think that any believer will enjoy the story, and non believers may have pause to reconsider their position. While it is not a referenced Commentary on the Scriptures, there are many Scriptures quoted throughout the story, which makes for very credible scenarios. This Novel by Mr. Silvestri has even a different take on the 666 'Mark of the Beast' mystery, than Hollywood has used before.

Enzo began writing poetry at the age of 18, and he continued writing as he pursued different occupations and careers.  The poems are largely drawn from his own experiences and or observations.  Enzo rejects the notion of many modern poets who say that ‘good’ poetry shouldn’t rhyme, and although some of his doesn’t rhyme, he insists that a rhyming poem shows that the words are put together in a much more painstaking way.

After reading his trilogy, I had to get a hold of these three volumes also. Mr Silvestri has written his poetry in the styles of the old romantic poets of the 18th century, although they deal with every day topics. One poem stands out. His Nomad poem is remiscent of the Ancient Mariner poem by Coleridge, well, he does quote Coleridge on the cover. If you enjoy poetry you will enjoy these.

Abstract:

When his journalist friend, nicknamed 'Eagle', said he wanted to have his charicature drawn, Enzo suggested he write a poem to go with it.

THE EAGLE

They call him Eagle, he stands proud;

He knows how to win bread and provide.

A man who's always well above the crowd;

Who for life would need no guide.

They call him Eagle, he's seen it all;

And he likes to swear and drink;

But I've never once seen him fall-

Though he's pissed to the eyeballs, I think.

They call him Eagle, living his life;

Seeing the bad and not much good. ( See Vol II for complete poem)

Abstract:

These three volumes were begun by Enzo at the age of 18, and he continued writing as he pursued different occupations and careers.  The poems are largely drawn from his own experiences and or observations.  Enzo rejects the notion of many modern poets who say that ‘good’ poetry shouldn’t rhyme, and although some of his don’t rhyme, he insists that a rhyming poem shows that the words are put together in a much more painstaking way.

At the age of 21 after he’d written the first two volumes, Enzo met his Lord and Savior and his poetry changed as well.  The style of writing did not change however and this can be seen throughout the many forms his writing takes.  The poetry in this third volume can be said to be Psalmic in a way.  Enzo drew much of his inspiration from the Holy Scriptures as well as his own walk in Christ.

In the long poem titled simply "Nomad", he outlines the toil and struggle one goes through in one's life.  Many of the Parables of Jesus have been topics which can be seen throughout his writings.  All three volumes have been arranged chronologically, as this shows the ongoing learning that we all experience.  Each of these poems has a Scripture attached to it, which speaks of the essence of the meaning of the poem.  His prayer is that you can draw inspiration from reading them as he has from writing them.

The Parable of the Sower is one that is examined poetically by Enzo.

THE SOWER

A sower went out in the field one day,

The seeds he sowed he threw 'em all around.

He sowed good seed wherever they fell,

And the good fruit came from the good ground.

.

Some of them fell on the path in between,

Some of them fell on soil full of rock,

Others fell and grew among thorns,

But the good ones brought forth plenty stock.

Now the world we know is the field he sowed,

But we ain't took care and it's fulla weeds.
