How I Found Abundance by Connecting on Author's Nation

I've only been using social networking on the web for about a year. At first I was cautious and apprehensive. Who were these nuts who spent their time making friends and business contacts on the internet? How could these people be trusted?

Now I'm one of these nuts and I've found several wonderful friends and business contacts!

One of the first people I met on the web is Reese Leyva. I met Reese on Author's Nation. Read her work and you'll appreciate why I treasure her friendship!

After some initial correspondence, Reese joined me as a guest on my PowerPOD program. She was open, candid, sincere and entertaining. I've gotten numerous responses from listeners talking about how Reese's message made an impression on them. You just never know who you're going to touch and whose life your going to change, simply by sharing yourself with others.

I found abundance and friendship because Reese and others are willing to share on the web. This is the best side of the web and shows how the internet can open up the world to us; provided we're still willing to open our hearts and minds!

Best thoughts!
Jim

Attention all James Goi Jr. Readers: I was just funnin' ya'll with that last comment. Some of you are too easy! Hey, who says there's no new writing? If you pop over to my page, you can read some of the 17 (so far--don't even ask how many PMs I got) comments (and associated feedbacks) which have hit my page all as a result of the tongue-in-cheek comment I pasted onto all of your pages. This is crazy! Check it out!

We can't post new writing! I'm having serious withdrawal symptoms without my daily fix! I'm spreading this message, like a fungus, to all of my Reader's pages! What else can I do? They won't let me post new writing! Help!

Hi Reese,
Your Abundance series speaks the universal truth... a person's happiness must come from within or else it's just a reasonable facsimile.
Feedback from ReeseLeyva: What a very wise and insightful comment, thank you!

I really enjoyed your "Abundance" series. It sounds as though your sufficiencies are most fanciful.
Feedback from ReeseLeyva: Thanks for reading! It's a series I enjoy writing, so I'm very thankful I get to share it.

Reese,
If you liked the first chapter you would probably like the whole book. I have a beautiful Filipina protaginast in the book who is based at least partially on my wife. And the Manila,Mikati districts as well as Palawan are pretty faithfully described. Thanks for taking the time to read the first chapter.
Feedback from ReeseLeyva: How exciting! I plan on picking up the book soon!

How I Found Abundance On The Cabrillo Highway: I love little true-life stories which relay some sort of lesson or truth. This is a great example of that kind of story. Fun to read, and beneficial at the same time! Good stuff!
Feedback from ReeseLeyva: I'm glad you enjoyed it! It's nice to feel "beneficial."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Previously known as Theresa Lee, I now write under the name Reese Leyva. Partially to distinguish myself from my alter ego, the one who owns and operates a Polynesian dance troupe and is known for her hula dancing and fire performing (pretty cool, right?), partially to pay tribute to my new life as a writer, lecturer, performer and all-around-creative-being.
Not bad coming from a person with a Bachelor's degree in Finance and over 10 years of professional (and accomplished) finance & accounting experience, eh?
Then again, I've been a writer since I was 7. Since I wrote my first poem (that I can remember) I've been madly in love with words. My mom used to say I was such a good kid that when she'd plop me down in a room by myself in my walker right next to a bookshelf, instead of walking I'd just stay right there in the corner - in front of the bookshelf.
In retrospect, I think it was a sign.
When I was young, I took my love for books a sign that I wanted to be a lawyer. Bad idea. No offense to all the lawyers out there, but when it takes you three tries to complete your Corporate Law class in community college, that's a sign, too. What I was thinking, I'm not so sure. At least I tried.
In high school, I was a hell-raiser. My first job was at an auto-shop and I used to drag race illegally on industrial side streets and freeways. I was a little wannabe grease monkey, hanging out with the boys and getting into as many fights as possible just to prove the supremacy of womanhood. I've also been known to engage in other, marginally legal, activities, none of which I will confess to on the World Wide Web.
In college, I turned a new leaf and was a bit of an activist, organizing fundraisers for non-profits and lecturing at conferences and seminars about the Pilipino-American experience. At the same time, I was already well on my way to fast-tracking a finance career in Silicon Valley so once I finished college I had several years of (quite accomplished) corporate accounting experience already under my belt.
I then moved on from activism to studying subjects like acting, philosophy, breath & movement and holistic health, all on the side, of course, as I was still very dedicated to my finance career. Still, something kept gnawing at me to keep searching ... so I did.
I moved to Los Angeles and worked as an accounting and small business consultant to fund my newest slew of projects:
I co-wrote and co-produced a short film that never made it out of post. Then I wrote, produced and starred in a full-length play with a cast of 10 (which, sadly, closed in the second week of its run due to lack of funds). THEN I produced (but did not write, nor star in) another, very successful full-length play about the journey of two sperm from ejaculation to conception. FINALLY, fruition! It was a magical experience. It was also a rather funny play, too!
And all this time, since I was in high school, I've been a dancer. I enjoy all types of dance but, professionally, I'm a hula dancer. While in L.A. I toured a bit, working about 5 shows a week in the summer, performing from San Diego to Santa Barbara - sometimes in the same weekend.
At the end of my L.A. stint, I moved back to the SF Bay Area and started a new, wildly successful, Polynesian entertainment group with my partner and significant other - whose last name happens to be Leyva. Reese, on the other hand, is short for Theresa, a nickname created for me in my producer days; one I'm very proud of and have decided to carry with me.
That's the long story of my short name, which brings me to the present. I now reside in a home nestled in the hills of the Bay Area, happily writing and performing at my leisure. I've discovered I've been a writer all along, simply afraid I had nothing to say. All that searching was me discovering what meant enough to me to write about. Well, I've found it. Hence this new site and my new ebook:
THE BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO ABUNDANCE
Since junior high, all of my English teachers said I should be a writer. My favorite professor in college once told me:
You are an unseasonably good writer. You should be a writer. I don't know why you would do anything else.
I've finally come to realize - he was right all along.
Buy It Here: The Abundant View
Abstract:
Understanding Abundance is understanding the creative power you have at your fingertips. It's the power of manifestion, the law of attraction and the process of creation all put together in one perfect little package - Abundance.
Do you know what Abundance is? Has it ever been clearly explained to you? If you know all there is to know about Abundance, is your life truly all that you dreamed it could be? If not, do you know why? Do you know how to get where you say you want to go?
What if I could explain to you in clear and certain terms:
- What Abundance is
- Why it works
- How it works
- What you need to do to make it work for you
What would happen?
I'll tell you - it could change your life forever! Everything you've ever desired, you'd learn how to manifest. Every experience you'd hope to have, you'd learn how to create. Everything you’d wished for, you’d get.
Through a better understanding of Abundance you could uncover everything you're doing that's taking you away from your goals and discover the few things you need to do to immediately bring you closer.
You’ve probably accessed Abundance many times in your life, more often than you can even remember. Any time you’ve achieved something, succeeded at something or truly excelled at something you tapped into something greater than you, which exists only to help you fulfill your goals.
Do you remember what it was like when you achieved something you really desired? It may have been challenging, even hard, but the path was clear. You knew what you wanted, you knew how to get it done and you knew how to stay focused. It was simple and clear and you probably didn’t know it then, but the process you engaged in was the spiritual creation process of Abundance.
Would you like to recreate that process? Do you know how? Can you do it over and over again, achieve whatever it is you hope for or desire?
Well, now you can! With the help of …
