I liked what people said about your book at amazon.

Hi Jim!

Thanks for thinking about me despite your seemingly -oh-so-busy schedule.

I'm still waiting for PA to complete the editing of my book (it seems like it's a forever process) but in the meantime, I'm adding the finishing touches to my second book (Writes of Passage) which is a compilation of all my poems. I have thoughts of doing a third, a novel about interracial romance. I'm still debating that venture though.

Hope all's well with you, and thanks again for keeping in touch...

Hi Jim! Guess who. It's your 'trailer'.
Hey... I enjoyed reading the excerpt from your play. You're an excellent writer! Will this make Broadway? Wouldn't that be fun-tastic! Thanks for sharing your gift. Is there anything you *can't* do?
Feedback from Jim Horton: Hi Michelle:
Thanks! No, I don't see this play hitting Broadway. Yes there is something I can't do. I can't climb Mt. Everest, nor do I want to.
Cheers,
Jim

About Me:

Bio for Jim Horton

Jim Horton, an artist, works in a Romantic, Modern, Theatrical Style. His work is bold with direct statements, playing strong contrasts between darks and lights, paying close attention to the effects of lighting. The focal point pulls the viewer into the art then the viewer’s eyes drift around the piece as he is lead by the designs, shapes and color

His background has been senior art director and illustrator advertising agencies in Chicago, Illinois, also art instructor for colleges in Illinois and North Carolina. Now retired from commercial art, he dedicates his time to fine art produced in his studio. He has paintings in private and corporate collections throughout the United States and Canada.

His inspiration for his Mediterranean painting are due to his painting workshops he has conducted in Europe. His Low Country Coastal paintings are the results of living in the environment of the Southern United States Coastal Areas.

His latest venture is writing and illustrating children’s books relating to his childhood. Joe and Brian adventures are based on Jim’s and friend Joe’s incidents, as they grew up.

Mr. Horton’s education consists of:

The American Academy of Art, Chicago, Illinois

(Commercial Art Degree)

The University of Illinois, Chicago, Illinois

(B. A. Art Education)

The University of North Carolina, Greensboro, NC (M. F. A. degree in Theater)

SYNOPSIS OF ”THE FOOT LOG INCIDENT” by Jim Horton

Two friends Joe and Brian get new coats for Christmas. They are excited about their gifts and go for a walk in the woods. They are warned to stay away from a stream that is overflowing due to the melting snow. They of course ignore this advise and venture to the stream. Joe decides to cross the stream on a foot log which is just at water level. Brian begs him not to cross, but Joe is determined to cross. A huge log being washed downstream is heading for the foot log and Brian warns Joe to get off. Before Joe can retreat, he slips and hangs onto the hand rail. When the log rams the foot log, Joe loses his grip and is washed downstream. Brian runs along the stream bank yelling to Joe. He instructs Joe to grab a tree branch hanging out over the stream. After several unsuccessful tries by Joe, Brian pushes a small tree over into Joe’s patch. Joe catches the tree branch and with Brian’s help is pulled safely to the bank. Both boys coats are ruined and later, they apologize to Joe’s mother for disobeying her warning about the stream.

I have written several Joe and Brian Adventures and have a total of sixteen stories in the works. I would like to have a series of theses books published. “The Foot Log Incident” is the only book I have illustrated thus far. Other finished adventures are: “The Flying Squirrel Incident”, “The Boat Incident”, “The Bull Incident” and “The Tree House Incident”.

The moral of all my stories is: Listen to your parent’s advise. All the Joe and Brian adventures are based on real events that happened to me and my friend when we were children.
