Congrats on the weekly column. Now that you're a published journalist, might I recommend checking out the Society of Professional Journalists at www.SPJ.org It's a great membership organization for journalist of all kinds. Plus, I work for them
Feedback from kathamy: Thanks for the advice! I will check them out pronto! Hugs!

"Wrong Life" - Yeah--me, too... but I like counterpoint of "Reality Intrudes", offering perhaps not an answer so much as a means of getting through...? (I like the "High Maintenance" one, too--but as a guy I'm kinda hesitant to put my head on the chopping block... hob nob!)

Feeling the blessings: very inspirational. Sometimes it feels that we are alone in our troubles but the Lord is always there to lift us up. May He continue to bless you in every day of your life, take care

Still feeling your words. Stirring emotions deep within.
Flashbacks. Dreams. Missing him, but still standing strong in faith.

I was perusing your portfolio and found "Unmake the Making" ... Kaz, I have spent hours on end trying to write into words what I think you were able to state with these two lines: “cohesion is an illusion / reality is artificial.”
This poem gave me a sense of where to head next, and with any luck, I’ll soon rise to fully grasp the concept of the river flowing. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Feedback from kathamy: Thanks for the comment. Actually, out of that very long poem, that one quote is not mine. It comes from my class notes in Modern Poetry, taught by poet Susan Mitchell – referring to the poem ‘Notes on the Reality of Self’ by poet Jorie Graham. That quote sparked off the whole poem for me.

WHY HAVEN’T YOU STARTED WRITING YOUR LIFESTORIES?

I am a native Floridian - not many of us left - 7th generation. I have three wonderful sons - ages 27, 25, 22 and A beautiful daughter in law. I also have the most amazing husband that a girl could ever dream of having. Life is wonderful!

TELLING A LIFESTORY

What would your story tell of you if you only recorded your dreams? We write our life stories from what we did or felt on the outside - why should we discount what happened on the inside, in our subconscious?

Write about what you didn’t accomplish in life. This tells more about you then what you did accomplish.

Write only what is in your head - those disjointed thoughts and ideas and dreams that parade through your mind constantly.

Write about how your life would change if you were a different sex? Would you be a different person? Would you still believe what you now believe?

Think about this. Do you initiate things or do you simply respond to outer actions? Make a list.

How old is your self? How old do you feel at this moment? What do you think your perfect age is?

There are dominant metaphors in every society that animate that society. What are the metaphors (or stories) you are telling yourself that may be holding you back?
